The Chamber Music Society of Minnesota with Andrew Imbrie on April 29

The Chamber Music  Society of Minnesota will close it’s season on April 29, 2007 with a special guest, distinguished American composer Andrew Imbrie, “one of our greatest living composers” (American Record Guide) and “ a national treasure insufficiently recognized” (Boston Globe).

The program will feature the Twin Cities premiere of his viola sonata, violin sonata “Chicago Bells” and a new song cycle “Four Songs for soprano, baritone and 10 instruments”. Mr. Imbrie who just celebrated his 86th birthday will be present to introduce the works. Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in in Eb major is also on the program.

Sally Chisholm, viola
Kirsten Whitson, cello
Tim Lovelace, piano

         Sonata for viola and piano
         “Chicago Bells” for violin and piano

Robert Schumann:
         Quintet in Eb major for piano and strings
